2013 Covea Fun Run
The Reading Festival is over and the kids are going back to school which meant it was time for the annual Covea (formerly MMA) Insurance Fun run.
This is the time I play at being Race Director by getting a cross section of work colleagues to don their running gear and trainers for the annual social non-competitive run along the Thames Path from the office (we are situated right on the Thames Path which is nice) east towards Sonning Bridge and back.
The event is now in its 6th year and we have a mixture of runners and walkers taking part. This year had a record turnout of 40 people (from around 350 in the office, so that’s a pretty good conversion rate). The weather was also quite warm which meant we had lovely scenic run in great conditions.
The majority of participants completed the 6.4 mile out and back route and then used the shower facilities in the office before heading over to the local pub for a well deserved sit down, rest, some refreshments and a bit of socialising.
From the feedback I received, people seemed to enjoy the event and it is good to promote (and have your employer supporting) a healthy and social activity in the workplace.
It was also quite timely that the Reading Half Marathon entries have now opened, so a great opportunity to badger some people into entering next year!
