2010 Mortimer 10k
The weather was cool and the run was undulating with a mix of downhill at the start followed by an uphill stretch between 7-9k which made the last third of the race tough. The run was well organised with plenty of marshalls on route. There was also a small fete taking place with a variety of attractions and stalls.
Some of the run is on the road with cars and you do wonder if there is any possibility of using some of the quiet country lanes around Mortimer. There did appear to have been some confusion on the Fun Run with some children towards the back of the group running 1 lap and some running 2 which is probably not a big deal for the kids run. However, there was no water for the children at the end which was disappointing particularly with some of the effort the kids put in.
Overall for a £6 entry fee, including a medal and water the run represented good value for money especially when a lot of 10k’s are creeping towards the £15 mark these days.
